I started writing a long time ago, I really can not remember when exactly. I started with writing songs, then I got in to write poems, then short stories, sometimes even novels. Writing was my HOBBY. Now it wasn’t until year 8 that I figured out that I actually had a flare for writing and that I would love to write about things that made me wonder, and things that made me sad. So I began writing and presenting at in-school competitions.
Now to cut the long story short, I had the greatest opportunity of presenting a speech I had written titled ‘child abuse’ at the AISEN (I think it means African International Schools Educating Nigeria but please correct me if I’m wrong.) 2014 conference which was centered on ‘Child protection’. I had no idea that I was going to be presenting a speech I had written in my bedroom for a large number of people including high esteemed writers and musicians. It was definitely the best experience I have had. After my speech I received a standing ovation from everyone in the room. One of the best days of my life.
This has encouraged me to publicize my writing instead of hiding everything in a pile in my room. Still a bit shy to do so but if you could leave comments, I would really appreciate. Thank you.
I would be posting both my child abuse speech and a poem I wrote on Nigeria in October, shortly.
